Hi, I was there for 2 days and I do undersatnd what everyone is saying. I too help run a show and know how hard it is so I admire you for all the hard work and long hours you've put into it. I do think though that the reason it seems to be losing it's sparkle is due to what you've said about 'trying to give more people a chance to win things'. I know this has all been done with good intentions but it seems to have taken the meaning off the word championships... years ago you could be so so proud of getting placed at the champs because there were so many people in each class all competing for the same thing and it was great competition. this year there seemed to be a class for absolutely everyone riding anything at any level! This as you say meant less competitors per class. I really didn't get the point of the classes on the staurday either?? If it is a championship then why do you need to have a day when anyone who's qualified for anything can enter any class? This is pretty much just like any other show and I think it did cause quite a lot of confusion and yet again took the shine off it for the people who had qualified for the rightful classes for the actual championship ones. I'm guessing that the show has got this way due to people moaning that there's no point them going as they haven't got a chance etc but if they go to county shows there are loads of people in each class and you're extremely lucky to get anywhere at all and most times after spending a fortune and working very hard you come away with nothing. As usual I thought it was well run and everyone was very friendly and a good day was had by everyone I spoke to. It just seemed to have lost it's 'Championship' feel. Can I make some suggestions? - Maybe it would be better if it was simplified a bit and the number of class splits reduced?
- Do you think there should be a restriction on people who've competed successfully at county level entering certain classes? This would increase normal people's chances without the need for so many splits.
- There are quite a few good amatuer photographers out there who would probably jump at the chance of taking photos for the dressage? They can then put them on one of the photo album programs where people can buy them etc.
- I know it's a bit more work but is it worth running classes with less than 3 people in? I was one of the people who was in a class with just one other person and it does seem a lot of hard work for nothing. Maybe theses classes could be cancelled if there aren't enough entries. It sounds harsh on the people who've entered but I have spoken to quite a few people in the same situation and they'd have preferred not to do it.

Thanks Spot There are going to be some quite major changes for 2011, so it is a case of watch this space. Those who have been to Hoys etc are not allowed to enter the Supreme, the Equitation Classes and Freshmans Classes, but if you have any further ideas would be delighted to ehar from you. Classes were split as only last year for example, I think there were 35 in one showing class, this meant two thirds had no chance of getting a rosette, so by splitting at least more of our local weekend riders got a chance of at least a rosette. We are hearing what is being said, and I think for 2011 this will be rectified. Saturday show is really a Championship for Types, ie it is an opportunity for the Tack & Turnout to have their Overall Championship, and same for many other groups, some like it and some dont, but again we are looking at it and we already have a draft schedule put together for dicsussion Once again many thanks for your feedback, it is always much appreciated
